Asano Yagura was absolutely merciless. No "Koyori was actually the first to play" fake-out. Hanabi's time to shine didn't come. Not even Kiruka and Munemune were spared. Suzumegahara crushed.
Very simple chapter to translate. Nevertheless, some notes:
>>5935The chapter title is just "dokidoki shinai" (didn't dokidoki). I thought up poetic ways to go about it ("unracing heart", "heart left unraced") but I'll leave that choice up to typesetter-san.
>>5937Satsuki says "we" and the furigana is "Suzumegahara"
>>5938I noticed a typo and instantly noticed I mistranslated Mogami's line.
Mogami:To provide a better ranking in the group stage, all five matches are taken in consideration.A 5-0 win makes it clear you're in a class of your ownWhat a mess… My apologies.
>>5939"Crawl back from this hole"
Mogami uses an expression that conveys that meaning. "To overcome a bad situation"
>>5941Kuroba's line is more literally something like "That thing again today… Can you do it, please?"
"UZU…" can have multiple translations but going for something that conveys "itch" feels not ideal.
"It was my first time"[… "Seeing this brand of table tennis"]
>>5942Koyori says "table tennis that doesn't dokidoki [her]"
I went for "dull brand of table tennis", but feel free to pick whatever you prefer.
>>5946>Is she criticizing Kuroba's table tennis or her own, during the match? Or just the match itself?Good question. Koyori's putting distance between her and the brand of table tennis she's crying about, so I assume it's Kuroba's. Even so, Koyori is all about making both her and her opponent feel the dokidoki, so if their hearts aren't syncing it could be an indictment of both her and her opponent's ability to make each other dokidoki.
My interpretation is based on
>>5943 and
>>5944 – Kuroba seems to be using the RPB. Notice she's returning Koyori's ball in much the same way as she did vs Juumonji (
>>4665 and
>>4666 ) but Koyori manages to break through Kuroba's RPB in a shot that mimics her return of Agari's smash way back in the beginning of the manga. Since Kuroba's RPB is her trump card, I'm assuming she went for her secret technique that made her win the match (the one we haven't seen yet, alluded in
>>5777 )
That secret technique can be the one that makes Kuroba's brand of table tennis so dull to Koyori's (but can is really when it mind-breaks five scorching takkyuu musume?).
