According to several users, the website has been recently deteriorating and the quality of the additions has been starkly declining. An user has also expressed frustrations with uncertainty on particular topics and the width of allowed content in certain rooms.

Do you believe this to be true? If so, do you think anything could be done about it? Is the current state the bare consequence of external factors or the medium itself or is the problem something internal?

 No.1368

It seems to be mostly external factors (the odd 4chan refugee). It does seem some threads have suddenly disappeared and one guy’s images keep getting deleted, but then he decided to protest this by spamming porn. Besides an increase in frequency, quality doesn’t seem to have varied much.

 No.1369

It would be helpful to know who exactly is replacing Sei. Who even is this person?

It's not surprising that your stuff has been getting spoilered. You definitely posted a couple things that crossed the line into lewd territory, and when those got spoilered (not even deleted, just spoilered) you got adversarial about it and started posting more obscene stuff. While I think staff should remain professional and not let their feelings get caught up in stuff, I would not be surprised if your obvious bad attitude towards staff chafed some breeches and is leading to over-censoring of your stuff. I could hardly refuse to put it past them to do so. It's fine to be upset about being targeted this way, but you should also recognize that instigating things isn't beneficial either. At the end of the day, you're using someone else's site and they ultimately determine what is and is not permissible and in what ways. You wouldn't be able to post here at all if they didn't, or at the very least this would be a very unpleasant place. So, please, be gracious to our host and follow the rules by keeping lewd in >>>/lewd/, and if you have a grievance with the moderation style then you should express it openly and clearly here on the meta board.

This post perfectly encapsulates the problems I have with the site recently. Calling users fake, insincere, and Nazis(!?), calling me a teenager because I mentioned that religious posts are against the site rules, and insulting Sei. This user hates sushichan and wants to be a recurring problem just for the sake of being a problem. That kind of toxicity is common on the internet, but not on sushichan. I come to sushi to get away from this type of hatred and vitriol, and I want it to remain that way. I don't want sushi to become like every other altchan. If not comfy, what is sushi?

Seisatsu has explicitly stated her desire to separate her public self from her imageboard self, including from horny things and from loli type content specifically. It remains unsurprising to me that this is getting spoilered or deleted. I would also again encourage you to engage more constructively with moderation here. The "power-tripping prude" may be Seisatsu, a high-quality user, or multiple people, all of whom are likely taking our admin's desire to not be associated with this kind of thing into consideration. I think the adversarial attitude you've taken towards their moderation decisions is probably a part of the reason you may have been targeted in the way you think you have been. I feel like insulting them like this is just shutting down fruitful progression on the subject and opening yourself up to more moderator harassment by further frustrating the situation. I don't doubt that you have a legitimate grievance here, but I think you're not doing anything to help alleviate the problem yourself, just saying that other people need to identify it and fix it themselves.
>>1376
Ah, religious discussion *is* against the rules looking at them now. I suppose that was obvious, though. My apologies for that, I won't engage in it further like I have been.

>The "power-tripping prude" may be Seisatsu, a high-quality user, or multiple people, all of whom are likely taking our admin's desire to not be associated with this kind of thing into consideration.

Nah, it is just Miri. I doubt Sei or anyone else gave a fuck. I am an ex-staff member, too.

There was no attitude from my side prior to the incident in lounge. I was contributing like I have been for years, and only started posting explicit lolis after that. And I don't know what fruitful progression there could have been? I would have been just told to shut up and go post in lewd, like I heard from you.

>I am an ex-staff member, too.
Then I suspect you of all people should already be aware of what I said, both regarding how Sei doesn't want to be associated with loli and in how obstinate posters engender a distaste from moderators.
>And I don't know what fruitful progression there could have been?
I'm curious how you square away simultaneously thinking that there's only one staff member who thinks what you did is a violation with also thinking that that there's no other staff that would agree with your conclusion. Even if fruitful progression couldn't have been a possibility, I'm still not sure what good this is doing. And from that, what good do you think it is doing for you or anyone else to go this route of posting obscene things and calling names anyways?
>I would have been just told to shut up and go post in lewd, like I heard from you.
Please do show where I told you to shut up, as I only recall telling you that there was a better way to express your issue here. The precise thing is that I don't think you should shut up, because if there's a real problem then it should be addressed and that can only happen if you make your grievance known.

There is no need to lecture me how I shouldn't spam explicit loli hentai, lol. I obviously hoped for it to be malicious as a dumb retaliation. What I posted prior to that was questionable at best and didn't warrant excessive moderation of my threads.

 No.1383

In my opinion whatever got deleted should get spoilered, what got spoilered shouldn't be touched. Too bad I left no examples.

 No.1384

It's not really a recent change, it's more over a couple of years it's been going on. Not really all the same thing either. At some point there seemed to be a poster that turned up that has a certain modus operandi of posting that's sort of strange and never left even though they never actually truly interact with anybody. Don't like pointing fingers, if you've been around you probably know the one. And at times posters turn up who don't get the vibe and post before lurking, which makes a big difference for such a slow board, but they don't seem to hang around for long though.
We did also go through a vague morph of vibe when we absorbed some refugees from that other small IB that died (IIRC we made /otaku/ to accommodate them). Not to say that was a mistake (technically I am a refugee myself, though I was already here way before my main IB died), or that it was a change for the worse, but there was indeed a change.

I do have theories about how the current state of things came to be, but it's better to stick with facts, and speculation isn't going to change anything anyway.

I might be getting old as well, but I share that memory of how it used to be. More quality over quantity.
>>>/lounge/21971
>There is no such thing as a high quality post on an message board
>But I actually liked those religion threads. I learned new things by reading them
Hmm
I would also argue that there's lots of differences between a 4channer and a sushi, but from the rest of your post it feels like it'd be a waste of time to elaborate.
>>1377
While I am part of those who think horny posting is better kept elsewhere, I do agree that it should actually be written out in the rules if it's to be spoilered/deleted.

 No.1385

>>1376
>religious posts are against the site rules
I disagree with that rule. I interpreted it as "no religious preaching, don't spam the board or argue about religion." IIRC there have only been three threads related to religion (one being a joke). All of those threads have been pretty respectful. Its been interesting to read and I like the discussion. I've learnt things about other people. Who have these threads hurt? What's so offensive about them? If we have a hard no religion rule then that rules out a bunch of perfectly fine hobbies and interests. Should the tarot thread get removed? If I post a torii or a miko should it be deleted? Might as well ban all Haibane and Touhou discussion since it involves vaguely religious imagery too. You seemed to take issue with hostility to queer threads but don't like ones where people talk about Buddhism? Its right to discriminate against some people but not others? Forbidding inoffensive stuff on the grounds its not comfy is ab unfair excuse to exclude people you don't like who never did anything to hurt you in the first place.

>>1379
>My apologies for that,
Don't apologize. I don't really remember any recent religion related posts on this site being uncomfy or offensive. Maybe there were some before? But these ones weren't.

>>1382
It was counterproductive and didn't help you much. But let's assume you did the right thing and made a post here about it, would it have turned out better? The mods seem kinda unresponsive at times and your post probably would have been overlooked.

The FAQ page has been in need of an update for a while now. It even still misgenders Sei.
>>1385
I'm not opposed to no religious discussion rule to the point that discussion is of religion unto itself. It can be a pretty contentious topic. With that said, I don't think anybody is against things that aren't really substantive discussion of religion (e.g. enjoying religious aesthetics such as Mikos) or that are discussion of religion as it pertains to certain media (e.g. themes of Buddhism and Christianity in Haibane Renmei). I think it's a totally fine exception to the rule given that it's less likely to be an inflammatory subject in those cases and provided the discussion remains civil. To that end, my posts rather objectively didn't fit into the mold set out by the rules. While it seems moderation has provided exception to them thus far, I don't think that should necessarily be the case if it runs counter to the ideal direction of the site. That is to say, it *was* a bit foolish of me to go off and make the many posts I did without considering how it might not fit into the environment here, and I do think that warrants an apology. It was also a bit hypocritical of me to criticize someone else for disregarding sense to engage in uncomfy posting (albeit their case was malicious) while having done so myself. I don't think the fact that I've kept my posts fairly civil changes the fact that extensive discussions of religious faiths, especially one's own, are indeed fertile ground for uncomfiness to spring up from and that the purpose of the rule is to prevent uncomfiness from arising.

 No.1387

>>1386
Anything involving strong emotions can be a contentious topic. Fandoms are rife with arguing and polemic, even violence. I don't think religion is inherently contentious, or more so than any other subject. It depends on the conversation itself and the extent to which its civil and respectful. Discussing it does not warrant an apology and people should not be made to apologize or be excluded for contributing in good faith on a perfectly wholesome and acceptable topic. We might as well forbid trans and queer discussion since that's contentious too. Why isn't that ruled out on the grounds of being uncomfy? Because its discrimminatory? Well why is it okay to discriminate against Buddhists in that case? And I'd like to know, who was offended by these posts? If they are so uncomfy, why didn't the mods remove them sooner? Why didn't other sushis complain? Do not feel like you have to apologize.

 No.1388

>>1387
All the posts are still up to my knowledge, and we have no current statement of mod approval or disapproval of them. All I have to go on at present is the rules as they're written. As before, it's my present interpretation that the intent of the no religion rule is to prevent common types of discussions that are particularly prone to uncomfiness, such as the discussion of religious faith for its own sake. Recognizing this, I stand by my apology, and will also note that I didn't feel forced to make it but made it because I felt it was the proper thing to do. Pending approval otherwise, I think this paired with a desistance of my religion posting is the best course. This would be true even if I disagreed with the rules, but simply because they *are* the rules of our host, and I should be gracious as a guest.

Post quality seems fine. Some amount of shitposting is important to keep the vibe.

/kawaii/ should not get you in trouble at work. Horny posting is fine with spoilers imo. Can mods spoiler images, that step over the line?

Keeping religion, politics and controversial social topics down or at least in /hell/ is a good call to maintain peace. They are often abused as bait by users with ulterior motives to derail conversations and sow seeds of discord, ultimately replacing the user base with people who like to argue all day.

Escalating threads should get closed or moved, with deletions and bans as a last resort.

Confirming that Seagal here is going to be the new owner.

As for why I'm leaving, it's not just the loli, though that is part of it. It's also the raids, it's also the transphobia, it's also the cp spam, it's also coming legal changes in the United States which will make it risky to run a community website which accepts sushi rollymous posts. But it's mostly been how busy my life is nowadays leaving me little time and energy for the administrative work of two imageboards.

Rest assured, I have known Seagal for a long time, they have been an Uboachan user for ages and a staff member for quite a while, and I trust them to carry things forward from here. The sites will live on. And I will not disappear entirely, I just want to take more of a background role. I need less to worry about right now.

Who isn’t insincere in a post-modern consumer society? Sincerity went out the window a long time ago.

>If not comfy, what is sushi

But what is comfy? Is it really comfy to avoid certain things? What the hell are we doing by keeping it comfy? What does that even mean to us?

Sushi does seem nicer and more sensible than other altchans. I’m only really here because racism and tranny bashing are verboten. I say seems nicer because you never really know. Since the admin plays whack a mole whenever someone posts something like that it could be skewing my perceptions. I have a feeling you’re all Nazis.
