I recently saw this video https://youtu.be/eh8U6SLvNgs
I realized that I never learned how to play chess. Nobody in my family plays it anymore so I never bothered to learn. But after reading so many amazing stories about this game I really felt urge to learn it and get decent at it.
Couple of days ago I started playing regularly on lichess; I'm still really bad but it has been lots of fun so far.
Do you have any interesting stories about chess? Any tips for beginner like me?
Lets have a thread about comfiest game ever.
Don't have any tips, but I'm kinda one step behind you. Been getting bored of video games the past years and almost never play, but been having cravings for something to replace it with, and chess seems like it could be it. Also would be a good way to meet new people, video games don't have that aspect mostly.
Have seen this recommended, free (legal/official) online version of a dudes books:https://www.chesstactics.org/
seemed good when I gave it a quick lookover, just haven't been motivated enough to give it the needed real effort yet.
thonkiest game ever
Yeah we are pretty much in same situation >https://www.chesstactics.org/
I will definitely look at it
Also not sure is it just me or it's common among beginners but I play most of the game really good and I am in wining position but then I just throw it the whole game with one stupid move
chess competitions are just analog esports
like medieval league of legends
Except LoL will never be as complete as chess
Lichess is great web server if you're looking for matches, also has a few tutorials and learning resources too. https://lichess.org/
Go is worth looking into too - since there's so many possibilities in any particular board-state there's much less memorizing openings and strategies; it's more about good pattern recognition.https://online-go.com/
Hey Chessbros, I'm more of a Mahjong player but if you're at all intersted about computer chess the new Down the Rabbit Hole is about Deep Blue and the matches against Kasparov: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwF229U2ba8
Long watch but well worth it.
Activate QUEEN's GAMBIT
Send harder ones.
if i haven't missed anything silly i think the only line is to sacrifice every single piece to knock the queen off of the diagonal or interfere with its connection to the bishop and mate with the a pawnQxb4+ Bxb4; Rd2 Qxd2; Kc2+ Qxc2; axb4#
It's crazy how robust the attack is with so many options from white and such crazy moves!
White Queens are the best.
That's not Emma Frost.
Chess ~ what is it good for?
building binary tree logical long term thinking.
That's not the kind of meat tube I want for my birthday.
It's meant to be a meat "cake"; the tube is so that it can hold its shape.

I Madl vs Julia Horvath>>12936
Gonna check it out.
Black to play
Teschner vs Portisch
Hmmm, I'm having some trouble figuring this one out.
I play lots of puzzles/tactics on lichess
Isn't this just queen to f7? Bishop takes queen and pawn takes bishop. I need more difficult ones…. although this one took me good 2 minutes to see too….
White to play
Alekhine vs E Steiner>>14006
Yes. That's the winning move.
I'm not good at chess and I don't really get the puzzle thing but is pushing the D pawn a good move?
Queen takes pawn on the E file then Bishop G6?

E Torre vs O'Kelly>>14183
Comfiest thread on sushigirl, I wish I could play chess.
I suck at chess and I never seem to improve. I love this game but I can play 20 games on lichess and win none I wish I could improve, I also solved a lot of problems and still don't really improve
