Why would you be welcome on a website made for women?

>>1870
This is the most retarded post I've seen in many, many years. Thank you. I love that you'd rather see images of amputated women getting raped (and completely fuck up your brain desensitizing it to vile shit like that) over letting a woman be an admin. That says so much about you in so few words, amazing.

The whole Samachan case is incredibly sad. I've only found Sama recently, I think it was a month before it closed down.
I understand the admin's reasons for shutting it down completely (usually people treat such projects as their own "children" they cared for, even if it was for a brief period of time) and are reluctant to hand them over. Sometimes it's better to "walk off the stage making people remember good memories only", but Samachan was pretty active… so it ideally should have been handed over to someone competent (if there was such a person).

>>2542
That sounds like an awful lot of projecting.

Kalyx sold the site to a cowboy called appleman1234 who's moderation style is a mix of "complete free speech" and iron-fist pruning and mothering for the sake of "post quality" and also keeps changing the thing that used to be CYBERPUNK IS DEAD to different things that aren't funny. I guess apple didn't change the server creds cuz kalyx could still log in, and one day he wiped the whole site for the funnys. Appleman kept backups but they were on the same server so they got fucked too. While it was being rebuilt some mods defected and made lainchan.jp, it was okay, kinda "discordy", I don't know what the story behind their death is but I assume from the homepage it's sad and bitter. The whole story is sad and bitter, and I'm sad that it happened. Some stuff on there is alright but posting there's no fun anymore. I kind of wish it died completely so lainons could've gotten a fresh start while they still cared.

.jp rebranded to arisuchan with a modern-looking css that looked really good.
Apparently it died because the site was raided and the mods just gave up. It had less activity than lainchan.org, so that might have been a factor.

shit, that is extremely uncomfy. /cyb/ on laichan used to be a really interesting board

A great thing about slow image boards is that sometimes you can make a thread, come across it again years later, and forget that you were the one who made it.

It's quite weird to think about all that, given that Kalyx always was a total glitterboy, who (if I remember correctly) used the server donation money to buy some equipment for himself.
Appleman's Lainchan had a rough start, then normalized, but it's still not the same place.

For the record, InstallGentoo has the whole story: https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Lainchan

Shame I didn't get to visit Arisuchan, I heard it was pretty good in spite of everything.

Eh. To be honest I think arisu was objectively inferior to lain hands down. That terrible css and huge font size made me feel like I was browsing the mobile version of that place on desktop. Like Medium, but worse. And lain always had more interesting and vivid conversations. That might have been a self fulfilling prophecy, but still…

 No.2601

>>2600
To be honest, I never had any issues with how Lainchan looked and worked, quite the opposite. Can't say for Arisu, but if the graphics weighed 30MB a page…

Last I've been to Lain, it wasn't *that* bad.

Lainchan is a pretty good site but it's getting more and more /pol/ types posting on it unfortunately, and /cyb/, the comfiest board, is no more

 No.3018

At first, I was onboard with other imageboards like julay and the like, but now I don't have the mental energy to stick around in those communities. The smaller more niche imageboards tickle my fancy more. I get so tired of politics.

Literally everything is politics. Why is it so hard for people to understand this one obvious truth?

 No.3034

>>3030
It was a one of a kind friend, if you got to experience it cherish those memories and fun you had. I explored far and wide for something like it many times already but nothing seems close to taking its place.
I came to understand the anguish of the lizchan lads and many others, still longing for the place they used to call home as even when welcomed with open arms to other sites there's that unshakable feeling of being like being a guest in another person's house.

 No.3035

You'd think an imageboard filled with free software/cyberpunk types wouldn't attract right-wingers.

 No.3039

>>3038
That's what is so bizarre and I remember the beginnings of the lainonsphere being left-anarchist.

 No.3040

>>3033
that's not true at all

 No.3042

>>3038
>>3039

The lainosphere seems to have two types of people.
First paranoic right-wingers, second left-anarchist.
The people from the second group usually also have some places they use pseudonymously, i.e. Mastodon. Maybe that's what ultimately drives them off the boards in the end.

 No.3048

After trying to find a good imageboard for 10 years I gave up and went back to 4chan, but never ever post on it because I refuse to allow my browser to load anything Google. I only check /a/ for threads of stuff that recently updated because it's when threads tend to be the least bad.

Practically every other social science can be asserted to also be of relevance in a given situation, but for whatever blessed reason, the psychologists and economists of the Internet are generally content to discuss these interests in their designated spaces, and the internet is better for it.

Dreamchan was a nice place to chill, but I think it has finally been shut down after growing periods of inactivity and the BO's health problems. It was one of the few chans where people weren't toxic and you didn't have chuds throwing racist shit all over, but you had chill people talking about what they were nostalgic for, their dreams and aspirations. It was one of the only image boards that had a positive and constructive environment, and I'll miss it.
