>>689We're at RamNode, using an OpenVZ server with 4096mb of RAM and 300gb of disk space. The server is currently using about 1/4 of the available RAM and 1/2 of the available disk space, so it may be possible to downgrade a little. $3 of the monthly cost goes into the DDoS protection option offered by RamNode, which was more of a concern in the past when this server was part of an active IRC network and subject to attack from time to time. Now that the IRC network in question only has a few users these days, and Uboachan and Sushichan are pretty low profile, the DDoS protection might not really be necessary anymore, but it is a small expense.
You are probably the second person to suggest that the server might be too beefy for its current purpose. After taking inventory just now, I think I agree. We should be able to cut our costs in half by downgrading to a plan with 2048gb ram and 250gb storage space. So I will go ahead and do that if it's allowed.
Edit: It's done. The server should cost $23 per month from now on.
