But that kind of naive thinking wouldn't get you through the first phase of the hunter exam. To understand the meaning of the 27th anniversary, you have to think like a hunter. You may notice that Killua and Gon's badges are 99 and 405, respectively. You know what the greatest common factor of 99 and 405 is? It's 9. So right off the bat you can see that it makes more sense to celebrate the anniversary in intervals of 9's than in intervals of 10's. Furthermore, you may notice that OP's post was made on March 5th. The 5th day of the 3rd month, posting about the 27th anniversary. 5×3=15. 15×27=405. It all works out to Gon's badge number.
Only the tip of the iceberg of course, but the deeper meanings are much more interesting when you discover them through hunter reasoning rather than having them spoon fed to you.
