In what promises to be the best season of the year, my eyes are zero'ed on a narrow selection of high quality anime.
We start with
Bikkurimenhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpyO_EY7fmsAn anime that promises a blend of comedy and action. Will it live up to the legacy of bikkuriman? We shall find out.
And if it's comedy we seek, then
Dekoboko Majo no Oyako Jijou gets to share the spotlight
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V7IiSfruCsWhich is also another LOOK AT THAT CHICK SHE'S SO DAMN HOT TANNED CLAIMED TALL CLAIMED BIG BOOBS CLAIMED TENNEN CLAIMED WITCH HAT CLAIMED
By the director of High school fleet.
And speaking of girls who are not what they look,
Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon takes center stage
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgXzmjaSQQIHigh fantasy and intrigue abound in this anime about a vampire leading a platoon of misfits. Will I care enough to watch it? Time will tell…
But something that's indeed in this mysterious poster's sight has got to be
Hametsu no Oukokuhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzT9SDMojB8This anime has my seal of approval as the SLEEPER HIT of the season. High stakes action with a story that traces its origin to science and magic crossing paths.
And if we're talking about hits, there are two anime in my crosshairs, promising to be the very best of this season, perhaps even the entire year:
Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! 2nd seasonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POEf1iuKR70This man has all my respect and there's way too many CLAIMable hot chicks to count (you can keep Epsilon). Absolutely incredible first season with an absolutely incredible finale, now a second season of chuunibyou action is here for all of us to enjoy. Strongest candidate to anime of the year.
Rivaled this season by only one anime. An anime that has been anticipated for way too long will finally be screened across the whole of Japan. Its name is
Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Rijou (also known as otome lesbians)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn_DCILXlLgThere's others like
MF Ghost, S-rank musume, Boushoku, Buta lover,
Idolmaster Million Live, Hoshikuzu telepath, Kamierabi, Kikansha no mahou, Konyaku Reijou, Seiken Gakuin, Ragna Crimson and some others which might have stood out in different seasons, but when facing titans as those listed above, they no longer seem prioritary watches. Such is the issue with airing in the most greatest stacked anime season of all time.

>>5418I'm pretty excited about this one
I am in the mood for a good old cute girls being cute type anime

I haven't been keeping up with seasonal stuff for the past year or so, so I have a lot to catch up on. But I've been reading Kusuriya no Hitorigoto and Sousou no Frieren for a long time so I'm pretty stoked for those. The cast for Kusuriya no Hitorigoto seems pretty great especially.
>>5418I'm picking this one up purely because of how cute the uniforms are.

That leaves us with only the two candidates to anime of the year:
Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijou
The strongest contender to anime of the season is FINALLY HERE! After space lesbians focusing too much on space, fantasy lesbians focusing too much on worldbuilding, cafè lesbians focusing too much on not having any french kissing scenes, it's finally time for otome lesbians!
Watching ep.1 I was blown away by Claire François, the villainess. In the looks department she's an ∞/10 and her seiyuu is doing the best work of her entire life. Her voice is like a melody to my ears, and then she has the most wonderful personality, the way she is so determined and so sure of her unquestionable superiority is the best. I can completely understand why someone would play an otome game just to see her and hear her and regale upon her reactions. However, THIS is a woman I WILL NOT CLAIM. Because Rei Taylor has proven that she alone DESERVES Claire's heart. I respect her too much to even entertain the idea of stealing Claire from her. Rei is very cute in her own right and her seiyuu makes her sound like such a fun-loving dummy goof, but it's her tenacity and loyalty that I respect the most. I'm completely sure they'll foster a happy home together for many, MANY years!
It's very entertaining to watch Claire and Rei bounce off each other and the OP and ED are AMAZING (I absolutely LOVE the little details like how in the OP they're saying their lines in sync with the song in the background and when they go and each says "RAISE YOUR HANDS!" Claire says it in a very gallant, noble way and they're both dressed in military garbs, but then Rei says "RAISE YOUR HANDS!" in her cute cheer and they're dressed in nightgowns making a heart shape with their hands, but THEN you see Rei holding Claire by the waist with her free hand BUT CLAIRE IS DOING THE HOVERHAND AND BLUSHING AND LOOKING AWAY KAWAII KAWAII KAWAII KAWAII KAWAII AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA).
Finally, a word of praise for Claire's seiyuu. Her vocal chords are in tip top condition and her voice fits Claire so much it's unbelievable! Her ojou-sama laugh is FANTASTIC! It's like listening to a true virtuoza playing her instrument to perfection! I'm a little scared she might be straining herself with the amount of tsukkomi she's dishing out. Here's to hoping she has a fruitful career for many more years.

And finally the only other contender to anime of the year in a stacked season:
Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! S2In case you didn't see
>>5415 this is everything I hoped for and then some. Cid/Shadow is yet another dramatis personna worthy of my respect. This is no doubt one of those anime you want to watch on a Saturday afternoon/evening but it's also the kind of anime that requires a modicum of coolness to be able to watch. Not a lot of people are cool enough for it, which might hurt the BD sales. Nevertheless, if this is anywhere near the quality of S1, it's otome lesbians' fiercest competitor for the anime of the year crown. And so far, it has indeed kept up the pace.

Was hoping he'd pass out from overuse of his new abilities and Leo would have to protect him but no he's running around with the edgy dragon instead. No.5503

Eh, is for real nobody watching Frieren? It's a legitimately good show, especially if you're not longer young…
No.5512
>>5511We are watching it on stream

No.5519
>>5511>>5512yeah ironically the seasonal threads are often devoid of the things that most of us are watching because of this.
No.5524
>>5511I wouldn't know what people who are no longer young feel about sousou no frieren because I'm not old but I'm keeping up with it as a gesture of good faith and hope in humanity. I'll be very
displeased if all my fears about this anime come to fruition and I end up spending all this time watching the journey of a fat girl and a flat elf.
No.5525
>>5524Eh? What're you hoping is going to happen?
No.5589
It's not often that I find a character in media who comes so close to being my exact portrayal. Just a young man who doesn't care about the rat race, holding a depth of strength only the upper echelons of the power elite can truly perceive.
>>5525Your post just reminded me I'm 2 episodes behind already… I'm hoping for a satisfying conclusion to the story (heaven actually existing in some capacity) but I'm fearing it'll go the shit route that all the posed looks and one note melancholy is preparing us for (see
>>5436).
No.5590
>>5589The anime isn't even going to get close to where the manga currently is, and the manga is going to take years to get to Heaven anyway.
I don't think there's going to be a "bad end" or whatever but the point is the journey, not the destination. Frieren really doesn't care that much about the destination anyway, the story isn't a romance story.

When a new season came about and all sorts of new characters started getting the spotlight, I thought I wouldn't be seeing much of my beloved Delta, but not only has my onee-chan wife and the love of my life become one and the same, I'm getting PLENTY of vitamin D also. What a wonderful life.
Too bad my girlfriend Beatrix isn't anywhere to se been ;_;
>>5629Yeah well when you're too cool to put up with the song and dance of society you'll always get a couple of weirdos spreading rumors about you.

It's funny because she's "forever 17" and therefore a perfect match for Kouki. But it's probably not funny if I have to explain the joke.
