I did NOT expect this at all from the very first episode either. I thought they actually did a good job with the emotional stuff at the end and if they can keep up that level of drama and hype this show could be really great

This show is fun. I really like the girl genius character, especially when she gets smug about being smart. Her and the dad are hilarious and heartwarming together too.
I hope we learn more about the whole map rock and dreams of the surface thing.
As before the CGI really mars what is otherwise a really nice looking show and makes the action scenes a little boring to sit through, but the direction and OST and shots of them in the cockpit are engaging enough.

This scene was good as well. I like that they're establishing in character that the girl is enough of a prodigy that they're basically peers, and I like that the dad isn't pulling punches about how dangerous their journey might be. I very much wasn't expecting him to give her a "here's what to do if I die" speech.

I thought the mobster episode was a little stupid with how the colony they visit just "not-italy", I hope the places they explore in the future are a bit cooler. The most recent one with the big wind machine was actually some alright worldbuilding though, and the show is still worth watching because Memenpu being smug and adorable is too good.

I guess if what they're hinting at about the whole underground world being manufactured is true it makes a little more sense to have the dumb caricatures of IRL cultures. But I'm a more than a bit underwhelmed by the setting, just seems not very creative or interesting and it kind of kills my investment in the actual plot. Not to mention the questionable CGI and a couple of plotholes I've noticed so far. Like I said though, the dynamic between the main characters is entertaining enough to keep me watching.
