If you're planning to stay in the same place for a decade+, you'll almost always come out ahead buying. If you find a place you like, make sure to hire a reputable inspector to check if there's any issues before closing. Usually it's better to get an inspector unaffiliated with your real estate agent.
Make sure to budget for upkeep/repairs in addition to mortgage. When you own the house, it's up to you to fix things or hire someone to fix things when they break.

>>22230>paying down debit for a decade boils down to the same as paying rent with the difference of owning the place in the endMy parents are telling me the same thing but I'm planning on killing myself in my 30s so I don't know how to explain them that renting is a better option for me.

>>22249Same here. I was suicidal or on drugs or both throughout my 20s. It might be something you eventually grow out of, if you put in a little effort to find things worth to press on for.
For a long time I thought life only would get harder, but that is something you have partially control over, hence I decided to create safety nets for myself to not depend on a single rope anymore. Hope for the mediocre, prepare for the worst.
