How do you deal with stress sushi? I feel overwhelmed in life right now and I need to find ways to relax and take the edge off. I’m work obsessed and can’t stop myself from hitting the books. The stress gets real bad. I get headaches and wind up restless and can’t sleep. I obsess over being a sinner and being inferior. What do you do to relax?

i get bothered by angst like this sometimes, so i hope you'll have a great day because i'd want others to wish me one too :)

Keep reminding yourself that your value is intrinsic, don't believe the lie that you're "inferior" to anyone. It's okay to feel bad, just don't let it control you. You're the master of your own destiny.

you'll need to experiment and find things that help you relax. simple joys and self-growth both seem effective. simple joys like laying in the sunlight, going for regular walks, walking in nature and listening to bird songs, drinking tea, cloud-watching, playing in the dirt/sand like a kid, stuff like that. self-growth like physical exercise (relieves physical and emotional stress), gardening, and other hobbies that help you get into a flow, relax, and feel good about yourself.

i find that ultimately a lot of relaxing is about doing something simple and/or fun that takes your mind off of thoughts that trouble you. acts to enjoy being alive like just laying on the ground and feeling your lungs grow and shrink as they breathe filling with air.

That pic is cool btw. Where's it from?

High intensity games mostly for me.
Slow and chill activities work better when you're already calm in my experience. Easier to shift the focus of the energy than to try to slow down.
Something that really forces you to pay attention to it rather than whatever else is on your mind works good to pull you out of there. Examples would be Devil Daggers or Ultrakill.

I think meditation will help. There are a lot of things you can try, but meditating is working directly with the core of anxiety, which is constantly reacting to thoughts and feelings. Once that exhausting mental race stops you can start thinking about the habits and ideas you can change.
Just look for a method that you like (for example, if you don't like sitting cross-legged find a good chair, or if you don't like focusing on your breath focus on an object or body part) and do 5-10 minute sessions a few times during the day.
It is like doing stretching exercises to fix years of bad posture. If it feels too hard or too easy you are probably doing it wrong. It should take a decent amount of mental energy, but if you stick to it the reward is really worth it.

>walking in nature and listening to bird songs, drinking tea, cloud-watching, playing in the dirt/sand like a kid
Sounds good but I have a hard time not thinking about things. You know like work and life related stuff. Racing thoughts. If I drink tea and read something, I start worrying about everything I haven’t read or I don’t know yet.

Horror games are great for this. They really help but I have to be in the right mood to play them and often I’m too restless. If I pick up other games, I end up thinking about other things instead of focusing on the damn game. So I wind up picking up books and studying them and dividing my attention.

I’ll try meditation. Not really sure which type is good or real but I’ll try it.

I like to scream song lyrics.

In places where no one can hear me of course.

I bottle it up until I finally snap and ruin a relationship with the scant few friends I have.

That or I go in the woods for a while.

Okay right now I am super stressed. Small things fill me with existential dread. I can play a game or watch an anime I’m currently into but I am too stressed out to do these things. I tried playing the show but I kept pausing the video and pacing up and down my room castasrophizing over one sentence in an email.
