the point isnt really to find new stuff, but to share stuff with the other people here. why would you show pictures to you family in person when they can just look at them on facebook? because its nice to do.

Decided to watch some anime again after not having seen any in over 5 years. Only seen the first four episodes so far, but I really like it. The pacing of it makes it very easy for me to keep up with the subtitles, since this show doesn't throw dialog at you at the speed of light, like some other shows like The Tatami Galaxy.
Looks like the file size of this picture was too big, so had to recompress it as jpg.

Dont hate me for asking this, but is Lain good? I tried to get into it a few years back and watched an episode or two, but it didnt really hook me and I dropped it. What is it actually even about? Is it still worth a watch if I dont enjoy the first episode or two?
No.1105
>>1104It's very good, for certain people and/or certain states of mind. If you didn't enjoy the first two eps I don't think you would have gained anything by pushing on. Maybe give it another chance or two at some time when you feel to be in a different mode than last time and it might click.
But also nothing wrong with not being into something just because it's a cult classic, they tend to be just that because they resonate very well with a certain kind of person to the detriment of overall mass appeal.

>>1104"Good" is subjective, roll. Sure it's a classic, and I like it a lot, but you very well might not. The pacing never gets any better/faster if that was your issue with the first two episodes, nor does it ever make much of an attempt to explain itself. I enjoy it for its aesthetic, tone, music, and themes, and for the fun of trying to come up with what or why the fuck anything is happening.
No.1107
>>1104>What is it actually even about?Oh and to answer this, I think part of the fun is coming up with that on your own. But if you want my shitty answer based on what I remember of the show, it's "about" connection, the internet, consciousness, god, and other such 2deep4u type things. If you mean the plot itself the most spoiler-free way to put it would be that it's basically about a fictionalized, fantastical version of the internet merging with reality and the result of that.

>>1104I really liked it. A lot of people see the show differently, but I personally saw it as a show about the connection between people and how your "self" can be bastardized by the internet. This really hit home with me – growing up on the internet, there were experiences I had that both empowered me and scared me, and this is deconstructed in Lain.
Of course, the visuals helped. But there definitely was meaning for me that went beyond "art shit". It might not be your thing, and that's okay.
