The game starts out very strong - I absolutely loved the verticality of the locations, the variety of enemies, and the crumbs of lore. Unfortunately, the later locations are much less impressive, and the story feels trivial. Graphics and animations are great, but the music is non-existent.
Combat is a mixed bag. There are many options provided, but I feel like there’s only one viable way to play. Parrying is hard - every enemy has those delayed attacks that throw off your timing. It’s extremely annoying, though at least I didn’t notice any input reading. Enemies, especially bosses, are really predictable. This can result in very cinematic, almost orchestrated, scenes. I especially loved the fights against other Bladers.
Bladers are some kind of android, and our protagonist is one of them. She wakes from a coma, and it really feels like she learns to speak as we play. She remains completely expressionless, and I can’t like her. But she fits well as a doll, since there’s a big range of outfits to find and dress her in.
