>>1343As an addendum to Ace Attorney, if you happen to like that series at all make sure you play ghost trick. I'd also highly reccomend 999, as well as hotel dusk, and touch detective. There are a hell of a lot of charming adventure games on the DS. Also consider getting a ds flash cart like the R4. I know its still emulation, but the secondhand market is bonkers these days.

My 3DS broke this week. I don't even know how, I took it out of my backpack after being out and it stopped turning on. Pretty sure the top screen is broken somehow so the system is refusing to boot. So depressed cause I love this thing. Hoping I can get it fixed.

I still have my launch day 3DS. I played it for a year and slept on it. Might just be me but I feel like the 3DS wasn't as good as the DS.

>>1341Picross.
You have the DS game, two 3D entries, Picross e1 through 9, a couple Club Nintendo special releases, Pokemon and Zelda editions, and someone even back ported the puzzles from the Switch's Picross series to the 3DS. Hundreds of hours of Picross can be played on the 3DS and by the time you finished them all, you can probably start over from the beginning.

>>1341these are great rpg games with an unforgettable atmosphere, soundtrack and gameplay. highly recommended
>>1479i'd like to add that if you don't wanna buy an r4, install twilight menu instead. it allows you to run ds roms from your sd card and has a lot of built-in emulators, though you should probably emulate the more demanding systems like the snes via homebrew made for the 3ds, and if you wanna emulate the psx smoothly, a new 3ds is a must.

I liked Custom Robo Arena and Magical Starsign, those are two really fun ones. The Mario & Luigi brothers games were also fun too, but that's a bit obvious.

>>1342>>1344Himukai is my favorite Atlus artist. and EO is my favorite dungeon crawler series. It's just cute anime Wizardry, but it does what it sets out to do really well and I've easily put several hundred hours into each game.
I'd personally recommend EOIII as a starting point though, since it's still one of the less punishing ones and has a lot of the QoL improvements the 3DS games have but with a traditional dungeon design, and in my opinion the best RPG system and most engaging story until EOV (though still rudimentary enough to let you fill in your own details).
And most importantly, the cutest collection of girls.
>>1580I need to play the Devil Survivor remake sometime. I never finished the original on DS but I remember it being pretty dang good. It still amazes me how polished and feature-rich DS games got considering the technical constraints.

i remember when the switch first came out i was mad about nintendo directs still announcing games for the 3ds. the system was a big part of my childhood but i sort of grew out of it until recently when i got a new 2ds xl and modded it. i still have my old broken 3ds with all my good memories on it.
but man i regret how i used to feel about the system, nowadays handhelds are just portable consoles/pcs which i do think is great but it means we don't have handheld styled games anymore if anybody knows what i mean. now its just pc or console games on the go, which again is great, but it's kinda sad to know we will never get a handheld like the 3ds ever again because technology has caught up. the restrictions of a weak handheld provided a unique experience. i guess the only thing i can make a comparison to, and not even a good one, is minecraft in the way that it added more stuff and got better as an overall game, yet the old and more restrictive version is looked back on fondly not only for the good memories but for the simplicity of the game.
anyone agree, or am i just blinded by the good times?

>>1851I have better memories of using an R4 card with my DS lite than 3ds. Was so easy to pirate stuff (beyond just ROMs) and just drag n drop. I loaded up my 3ds with roms a few years ago and abandoned it quickly after the thing gave me horrible thumb cramps.
The only redeeming quality about the switch was I could play handheld without that, but the stupid thing died because it was asleep and I let the battery run out. With smartphones being nearly mandatory in life it doesn't surprise me that they've replaced handhelds like these, kinda sad in its own way, kinda cool if you can make it yours with roms and emus without carrying around too much shit. Im really minimalist about my possessions, so the change doesn't bother me too bad.

Flipnote is really fun if you like drawing. I still make things in it. As for real games you should try Henry Hatsworth if you like platformers.
>>1851I have the exact same feeling. I think it's a combination of the game design being for pick up and play, the design of the console being for kids so its made to just be thrown in a backpack vs the switch or steamdeck that require a case, and the lower technical barrier meaning there was room for small and interesting games from developers since it was relatively cheaper and you could do it with small teams and a quick turnaround.
